Spreading the Love Blog Hop

Happy Valentine's Day Weekend

Many of you will be celebrating Valentines day this weekend or preparing/shopping for your honey's holiday gift. Perhaps your hoping to entice that someone you've had your eye on or searching for love. I found some interesting fact about Valentine's Day I thought I would pass along. Whether you are in a committed relationship, experiencing new love or looking for love you might just find something to help you celebrate!

St Valentine 'Not the saint of love'
Britain's Roman Catholic Church is advising lovelorn singles to direct their 14 February requests for love to St Raphael, rather than St Valentine.  Over the years St Valentine has come incorrectly to be associated with finding love, the Church says.  He is the patron saint for those who have already found their soul mate.  St Raphael is the patron saint for happy encounters and it is to him those fearing the Valentine's post should properly direct their prayers.

When choosing a gift whether it be for a new love interest or your soul mate put some thought into it. Think before you buy. Ask yourself. "How would I feel if I received it?"

Steer clear of anything Sharp
It's bad luck. According to some ancient philosophies knives and sharp objects like scissors and swords send harsh energy and are meant to sever the relationship with the receiver.
For The “Softie”
Okay ladies do NOT buy for your man, an Erectile Quality Monitor. Nothing will make your man feel quite so insignificant as a device telling him how disappointing he is in the bedroom. No longer will you have to claim “it happens to every man at some point.” He will know his manhood is not satisfactory without the need for words. In fact, maybe this will also make it easier when you tell him that you want to be with other men.

Listen up guys.
Women will appreciate you putting a little time and effort into their gift. You may not under any circumstance by a gift for your self and pose it as a gift for her. Cash while it’s great for her to spend someone else’s money, as a gift on Valentine’s day is like telling her “I spent zero amount of time on your gift now take your money and leave me alone to watch the game.”  Here are 10 other gifts you may want to stay clear of.

1.    A bathroom scale (not much better is the chocolate scale)

2.    An artificial rose

3.    A jogging suit

4.    Stale chocolate

5.    An ugly sweater

6.    Dinner with his parents

7.    Midol

8.    A gift card to Walmart

9.    A vacuum cleaner

10. Lingerie that was two sizes too big

True love does last.

Herbert Fisher Sr. of North Carolina married his sweetheart Zelmyra on May 13th 1924. They have now shared wedding bliss for 86 years, 273 days.

Oldest and most expensive Valentines day Card

This 1790 valentine card; seemingly oldest also happens to be the world’s most expensive valentine card ever. It is being said that the sketch of this Valentine card disclosed by the Royal Mail was expected to generate a sale up £4,000, if sold.
At present this card is being placed at the British Postal Museum under their records but unfortunately there could not be any proud bidder for this as they have no plans to sell it.
The card is a handcrafted puzzle that unfurls to expose poetic letters, far away from the short love-giggles mentioned in today’s Valentine’s cards.
The face of the card reads:
“My dear the Heart which you behold,
Will break when you the same unfold,
Even so my heart with lovesick pain,
Sure wounded is and breaks in twain.”

180 million

Number of Valentine's Day cards exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second-most popular greeting-card-giving occasion.
Origins of Valentines Day
There is no definitive origin of Valentine's Day. It's possible that it was a Roman fertility festival. Another legend assigns the holiday to commemorate St. Valentine, a Roman clergyman. St. Valentine was executed on February 14, about 270 AD, for marrying couples against the mandate of the emperor.

Regardless of the origin, the holiday is now entrenched in our culture. And if you think you aren't going to take part, beware: 53% of women in America would dump their boyfriend if they did not get them anything for Valentine's Day.

Now that you're feeling all Romantic,
or reading this in the afterglow of receiving a wonderful gift from your sweetie. May I suggest a Romantic Novel with a Happily Ever After to continue that lovey dovey feeling. It has "Hearts" in the title. and Casey from JERR said: " Ms. Desbois was able to reach in and grab my heart, make me cry, make me hope and make me sigh."
